2023-03-10thermal/drivers/tsens: limit num_sensors to 9 for msm8939Dmitry Baryshkov
[ Upstream commit 903238a33c116edf5f64f7a3fd246e6169cccfa6 ] On msm8939 last (hwid=10) sensor was added in the hw revision 3.0. Calibration data for it was placed outside of the main calibration data blob, so it is not accessible by the current blob-parsing code. Moreover data for the sensor's p2 is not contiguous in the fuses. This makes it hard to use nvmem_cell API to parse calibration data in a generic way. Since the sensor doesn't seem to be actually used by the existing hardware, disable the sensor for now. 2023-03-10thermal/drivers/tsens: Sort out msm8976 vs msm8956 dataDmitry Baryshkov
[ Upstream commit a7d3006be5ca7b04e4b84b5ceaae55a700e511bd ] Tsens driver mentions that msm8976 data should be used for both msm8976 and msm8956 SoCs. This is not quite correct, as according to the vendor kernels, msm8976 should use standard slope values (3200), while msm8956 really uses the slope values found in the driver. Add separate compatibility string for msm8956, move slope value overrides to the corresponding init function and use the standard compute_intercept_slope() function for both platforms. The thermal OF code has a new API allowing to migrate the OF initialization to a simpler approach. The ops are no longer device tree specific and are the generic ones provided by the core code. Add support for PMIC5 Gen2 ADC_TM, used on PMIC7 chips. It is a close counterpart of PMIC7 ADC and has the same functionality as PMIC5 ADC_TM, for threshold monitoring and interrupt generation. It is present on PMK8350 alone, like PMIC7 ADC and can be used to monitor up to 8 ADC channels, from any of the PMIC7 PMICs having ADC on a target, through PBS(Programmable Boot Sequence). 2021-10-16thermal/drivers/tsens: Add timeout to get_temp_tsens_validAnsuel Smith
The function can loop and lock the system if for whatever reason the bit for the target sensor is NEVER valid. This is the case if a sensor is disabled by the factory and the valid bit is never reported as actually valid. Add a timeout check and exit if a timeout occurs. As this is a very rare condition, handle the timeout only if the first read fails. While at it also rework the function to improve readability and convert to poll_timeout generic macro. Some devices can have some thermal sensors disabled from the factory. The current two irq handler functions check all the sensor by default and the check if the sensor was actually registered is wrong. The tzd is actually never set if the registration fails hence the IS_ERR check is wrong. adc_tm5_register_tzd() registers the thermal zone sensors for all channels of the thermal monitor. If the registration of one channel fails the function skips the processing of the remaining channels and returns an error, which results in _probe() being aborted. One of the reasons the registration could fail is that none of the thermal zones is using the channel/sensor, which hardly is a critical error (if it is an error at all). If this case is detected emit a warning and continue with processing the remaining channels. Driver enabling various pieces of Limits Management Hardware(LMh) for cpu cluster0 and cpu cluster1 namely kick starting monitoring of temperature, current, battery current violations, enabling reliability algorithm and setting up various temperature limits. The following has been explained in the cover letter. I am including this here so that this remains in the commit message as well. LMh is a hardware infrastructure on some Qualcomm SoCs that can enforce temperature and current limits as programmed by software for certain IPs like CPU. On many newer LMh is configured by firmware/TZ and no programming is needed from the kernel side. But on certain SoCs like sdm845 the firmware does not do a complete programming of the h/w. On such soc's kernel software has to explicitly set up the temperature limits and turn on various monitoring and enforcing algorithms on the hardware. The TSENS integrated on MSM8939 is a v0_1 device with 10 sensors. Different from its predecessor MSM8916, where 'calib_sel' bits sit in separate qfprom word, MSM8939 has 'cailb' and 'calib_sel' bits mixed and spread on discrete offsets. That's why all qfprom bits are read as one go and later mapped to calibration data for MSM8939. tsens-common.c has outlived its usefuless. It was created expecting lots of custom routines per version of the TSENS IP. We haven't needed those, there is now only data in the version-specific files. Merge the code for tsens-common.c into tsens.c. As a result, - Remove any unnecessary forward declarations in tsens.h. - Add a Linaro copyright to tsens.c. - Fixup the Makefile to remove tsens-common.c. - Where it made sense, fix some 80-column alignments in the tsens-common.c code being copied over. There is no functional change with this patch.
