Address width was an unfortunate name, as it means the number of IO lines used for the address, whereas in the code it is used as the number of address bytes. s/addr_width/addr_nbytes throughout the entire SPI NOR framework. 2022-05-16spi: spi-mem: Convert Aspeed SMC driver to spi-memCédric Le Goater
This SPI driver adds support for the Aspeed static memory controllers of the AST2600, AST2500 and AST2400 SoCs using the spi-mem interface. * AST2600 Firmware SPI Memory Controller (FMC) . BMC firmware . 3 chip select pins (CE0 ~ CE2) . Only supports SPI type flash memory . different segment register interface . single, dual and quad mode. * AST2600 SPI Flash Controller (SPI1 and SPI2) . host firmware . 2 chip select pins (CE0 ~ CE1) . different segment register interface . single, dual and quad mode. * AST2500 Firmware SPI Memory Controller (FMC) . BMC firmware . 3 chip select pins (CE0 ~ CE2) . supports SPI type flash memory (CE0-CE1) . CE2 can be of NOR type flash but this is not supported by the driver . single, dual mode. * AST2500 SPI Flash Controller (SPI1 and SPI2) . host firmware . 2 chip select pins (CE0 ~ CE1) . single, dual mode. * AST2400 New Static Memory Controller (also referred as FMC) . BMC firmware . New register set . 5 chip select pins (CE0 ∼ CE4) . supports NOR flash, NAND flash and SPI flash memory. . single, dual and quad mode. Each controller has a memory range on which flash devices contents are mapped. Each device is assigned a window that can be changed at bootime with the Segment Address Registers. Each SPI flash device can then be accessed in two modes: Command and User. When in User mode, SPI transfers are initiated with accesses to the memory segment of a device. When in Command mode, memory operations on the memory segment of a device generate SPI commands automatically using a Control Register for the settings. This initial patch adds support for User mode. Command mode needs a little more work to check that the memory window on the AHB bus fits the device size. It will come later when support for direct mapping is added. Single and dual mode RX transfers are supported. Other types than SPI are not supported. 2022-02-14mtd: spi-nor: intel-spi: Convert to SPI MEMMika Westerberg
The preferred way to implement SPI-NOR controller drivers is through SPI subsubsystem utilizing the SPI MEM core functions. This converts the Intel SPI flash controller driver over the SPI MEM by moving the driver from SPI-NOR subsystem to SPI subsystem and in one go make it use the SPI MEM functions. The driver name will be changed from intel-spi to spi-intel to match the convention used in the SPI subsystem. 2022-02-14mtd: spi-nor: intel-spi: Disable write protection only if askedMika Westerberg
Currently the driver tries to disable the BIOS write protection automatically even if this is not what the user wants. For this reason modify the driver so that by default it does not touch the write protection. Only if specifically asked by the user (setting writeable=1 command line parameter) the driver tries to disable the BIOS write protection. The aspeed-smc can have multiple SPI devices attached to it in the device tree. If one of the devices is missing or failing the entire probe will fail and all MTD devices under the controller will be removed. channel dma_request_chan_by_mask() can throw EPROBE_DEFER if DMA provider is not yet probed. Currently driver just falls back to using PIO mode (which is less efficient) in this case. Instead return probe deferral error as is so that driver will be re probed once DMA provider is available. 2020-06-19mtd: spi-nor: cadence-quadspi: Provide a way to disable DAC modeVignesh Raghavendra
Currently direct access mode is used on platforms that have AHB window (memory mapped window) larger than flash size. This feature is limited to TI platforms as non TI platforms have < 1MB of AHB window. Therefore introduce a driver quirk to disable DAC mode and set it for non TI compatibles. This is in preparation to move to spi-mem framework where flash geometry cannot be known. 2020-06-19mtd: spi-nor: cadence-quadspi: Make driver independent of flash geometryVignesh Raghavendra
Drop configuration of Flash size, erase size and page size configuration. Flash size is needed only if using AHB decoder (BIT 23 of CONFIG_REG) which is not used by the driver. Erase size and page size are needed if IP is configured to send WREN automatically. But since SPI NOR layer takes care of sending WREN, there is no need to configure these fields either. Therefore drop these in preparation to move the driver to spi-mem framework where flash geometry is not visible to controller driver. 2020-03-23mtd: spi-nor: controllers: aspeed-smc: Replace zero-length array with ↵Gustavo A. R. Silva
flexible-array member The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2], introduced in C99: struct foo { int stuff; struct boo array[]; }; By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning in case the flexible array does not occur last in the structure, which will help us prevent some kind of undefined behavior bugs from being inadvertently introduced[3] to the codebase from now on. Also, notice that, dynamic memory allocations won't be affected by this change: "Flexible array members have incomplete type, and so the sizeof operator may not be applied. As a quirk of the original implementation of zero-length arrays, sizeof evaluates to zero."[1] This issue was found with the help of Coccinelle.
